I built and grew a personal brand on RedNote by creating fashion, outfit styling, and lifestyle content tailored to the platform’s unique audience. The project focused on developing a consistent visual identity, testing social media growth strategies, and leveraging platform-specific features to expand reach and engagement.

Problem

When I started building my presence on RedNote (Xiaohongshu), I faced two challenges:

  1. Inconsistent brand identity – My content lacked a cohesive style and theme, making it difficult to establish a recognizable personal brand.

  2. Low discoverability – Without platform-specific optimization and regular posting, my content wasn’t reaching wider audiences despite strong creative ideas.

Strategy

I set out to establish a consistent personal brand on RedNote by focusing on fashion, outfit styling, and lifestyle storytelling. My approach emphasized:

  • Visual identity: cohesive aesthetics across photos, captions, and cover designs.

  • Authentic engagement: creating relatable, everyday content that resonated with young audiences.

  • Platform-specific growth tactics: leveraging Xiaohongshu’s algorithm, trending hashtags, and vertical content formats to maximize reach.

Execution

  • Produced original fashion and lifestyle content, including outfit inspiration, seasonal style guides, and daily lifestyle posts.

  • Designed vertical posts and videos with optimized covers, captions, and trending hashtags for higher discoverability.

  • Used my account as a testing ground for social media strategies, such as:

    • Varying posting frequency (daily vs. several times per week).

    • A/B testing cover visuals and caption styles.

    • Leveraging trending sounds, challenges, and hashtags to ride organic traffic waves.

Impact
